    Have a fruitful trip.

    I am originally from there and still have immediate family there.

    They are open and receptive to anything that you may need. Please let me know if you need their contact information. They live in Nairobi (and have lived there for about 70 years).

  12. Pray for courage to witness

    Why do we have to pray for courage for our missionaries?
    • Minister effectively in other cultures and languages
    • Defeat the power of the enemy's opposition
    • Conquer fear of failure and shame.

  14. Pray for courage to witness for our missionaries.

    "Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should"

  15. Sometimes "Ron said" is really Sherry. But this is really Ron.

    It is now Friday night. The flights were difficult in that I was not able to sleep much. First day here we toured the place and then turned in early (about 7:30PM).

    Thursday we started our work. I went out to the village and saw how they let light into the houses and use the Evangecube to share the story of Jesus with the people.

    Friday (today) I helped with crafts at the VBS in the morning and in the afternoon helped the medical team with getting heights and weights from mostly mothers and children.

    Our hotel is nice. Not fancy, but each room sleeps 2 and has its own bathroom including a shower. It is called Methodist Guest House.

    God has been kind to me in that I haven't been sick. Only very tired for a day after the flights.

    I have many pictures but I am afraid they might be too big to upload at this place.

    The first house I was in where we went from very dark to having light come in (about a 9 inch square) was a pretty amazing picture of the power of Jesus piercing the darkness. Definitely a WOW moment for me.

    That's all I have for now. Thanks to all for your prayers.
    Ron

  18. Hi to all in Kenya, especially, Rita. Things here are good....however,a bit lonely! I know you are all doing you best for God's Kingdom. The pictures have been good. I look forward to many more.
    Love in Christ....Bob

    Hebrews 12:2-3 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

    Matthew 13
    The Parable of the Sower
    1That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3Then he told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9He who has ears, let him hear."
    10The disciples came to him and asked, "Why do you speak to the people in parables?"

    11He replied, "The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. 12Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. 13This is why I speak to them in parables:
    "Though seeing, they do not see;
    though hearing, they do not hear or understand. 14In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
    " 'You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
    you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
    15For this people's heart has become calloused;
    they hardly hear with their ears,
    and they have closed their eyes.
    Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
    hear with their ears,
    understand with their hearts
    and turn, and I would heal them.'[a] 16But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

    18"Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. 22The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful. 23But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown."

    This parable of Jesus uses the metaphor of a sower spreading seeds as a way of illustrating that people respond in different ways to the message of the Gospel. Some hear and take it to heart; others reject it; but the "sower" continues to make the message available to all.

  22. Sherry... Went to an Ethiopian restaurant tonight- wonderful. Worshiped at one of the schools today with the kids. Pray for health as some minor things are impacting team members- all routine and nothing serious. Ellie and Rita are AMAZING! I am so proud of this team. God is working in the lives of the team members as well as in the lives of those we serve. Praise God!

  25. Today we saw lots of patients, tho I don't have a final count. I spent the morning helping Cara and J.J. with songs for VBS. In the afternoon, I took weights and heights for patients waiting to see our crack staff of healthcare providers. We had dinner with other short-termers from the states at the home of the leader of the boarding school. It was very nice. They had the world cup on TV there. Not sure our group was as interested as some others in that part. So we didn't get back to the hotel until around 8:30PM.

    Here's some more pictures. They are not yet labelled.

  27. Hi to all in Kenya, especially Rita. You are all hero’s to me. I love you all and can not wait to hear all the great stories you will bring back with you. Praise God that you were willing to to Kenya to serve Him and His people there. Your efforts will produce lots of fruit for God’s Kingdom. Some you will see even before you read this. However, much of it you won’t see until your in Heaven and many will come up to you and say, “Remember when you were in Kenya, it was because of you that God was able to work in my heart and bring me to Himself. Thank you for serving God and my people in Kenya.” Love in Christ….Bob

    1 Corinthians 3:5-9 After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us. 6 I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. 7 It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. 9 For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.

  28. Sherry... Hello from Kenya. What a day. More than 13 accepted Christ today, including one of our own team! Jeff and Ann just baptized Alyssa Sleboda in the hotel pool! Please pray for us as several of us battle a bug we picked up. Nothing serious, just keeping a few in bed for a day or two. Pray for God's speedy recovery as we head to the Safari tomorrow. We are done with the clinic and VBS. More than 1200 patients seen. Total number to follow. Thank you all for your prayers. Lives are being changed! Alyssa and Lauren gave an amazing devotion tonight. I am so proud of them. See you Friday or Sunday!

  31. Continue to pray for Team Kenya 2010 as they are in route home! Pray for safety and travel mercies.

    Worry is Like a Rocking Chair: You might be rocking away, and it might feel like you're getting somewhere; but in the end, you are exactly where you started.

    This is what Scripture says in Jeremiah 33:11, "'…Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; his love endures forever. For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before.' says the Lord."

    "God will cause two things..." That means when you wake up, praise God. Believe Him for restoration in your retirement and savings. Believe God for restoration in that business you lost. There is nothing too difficult for God to do. Everything that was stolen can be restored in your life. God always gives us double for our trouble, and He likes to outdo Himself. The question is do you believe He will?
    Keep your hopes up. Don't let worry have any room in your heart today.
    Keep a song in your heart. And when you wake up in the morning and hear the birds singing, let it remind you to praise God during these difficult economic times. He has the whole world in His hands. In fact, He has you in the palm of His Hand. Nothing is a surprise to Him. If you will stay full of hope and praise, God will show Himself strong in your life, and you will not be disappointed!

    It gives us practical things to do - - starting now. Just wanting to encourage you today. God is here. God is in control. God wants our best! copied

    Love in Christ….Bob
